Rookie Mistakes in the Gym
  • “If you look like you’re built with Kinects, people are gonna start to get curious when you’re playing around with daddy weight”
  • “Putting clips on the smith machine. The only way this weight’s comin’ off the smith machine is if the entire gym flips on it’s side.”
  • “If the squat rack were meant to do curls, it would be called ‘the rest of the gym’”
  • “Shitty plate math.”
  • “If you’re lucky, your gym will have 35’s, aka ‘fake 45’s’”
  • “BRO MATH. These both add up to 205, but this one is heavier.”
  • “This is a heavy, muscle-building exercise. Not some fru-fru bosu ball European cablelates exercise.”
  • “This is the shaker cup for real veterans.”

Bro science hasn’t really been that funny lately but holy shiiiiiiit, this episode was so on point!

My first day back in the land of the living. Went to class, walked to get coffee, and did healthy person stuff. Only thing I didn’t do was change my clothes. Still, overall a success.

After good news at the doctor’s office, I bought myself a new dress, wore it out of the store, and had Korean food in the park with my love. Whew.

Home sick from work this weekend. I’d been feeling increasingly more and more tender in my lower abdominal region for the last few days, and yesterday I went to the doctor. I was diagnosed with a bladder and kidney infection. :( My tenderness got so bad after I left the office that it took me 10 minutes to walk a block to grab a coffee, and, unable to get myself home, I laid in a park until Mark came to pick me up hours later (I had a couple really good books in my bag- the key to a good life if you ask me- so it wasn’t so bad). It’s been a rough couple of days, I’m on antibiotics but right now I can’t walk or stand for more than a few minutes without pain. The worst is I don’t feel sick, I have lots of energy and an appetite and I’m stuck on the couch, my muscles melting off of me, my belly feeling like a giant water balloon, and I’m sooooo bored. The punk rock flea market is this weekend and I considered calling the venue to see if they have wheelchairs on site (Mark said he’d push me around) but I’d feel too conspicuous and weird. Wahhhh. Guess there’s always biology homework to do… (btw been updating genpopbio.tumblr.com if you want to read about the super cool class that I’m taking.)
